Geocaching in autumn 2014

!!!Attention!!! if you want to do the Aliens Cache in Gehrden, you shouldn't read this post

So this year we made another geocaching tour on 3rd October. :) We had so great weather. We decided to make a tour in Gehrden as there is a cache with a lot of favourite points which we wanted to try out. The cache decription was already very nice. It has a youtube-video. So we tried it.
At the first stage we already had some problems as I didn't look at the hint. So we were searching and searching. And by mistake we found the second stage. ;) All the other stages that were following were really nice (I don't want to describe all of them, maybe one of you would like to make it). Before we went to the final stage, we made a break and there I finally saw the hint for the first stage and guess what, we found it immediatly. ;) After some cake and cookies, we went to the final and were searching and searching again. But we didn't find anything. Then we met some other geocachers, who wanted to look for the final as well. And they were lucky. :) These are some of the stations and the final:

After this Multi, which was only ~500 m long, we decided to make the round in the forest. It had around ~13 caches which were all different. After the first one we found a lovely scary little cemetary. It looked so magical. :) So Fynn and I had to make a lot of pictures there.

All the other caches were nice hidden. And one was very good. Sadly we found the extra stage before we have found the real cache. Normally you should have noticed in the cache, that you need a key for the logbook (we found the key first). And to get the key, you needed two elastic tapes and with a hole and a little wooden stick (which were in the cache), you would have found the tree with the key. :) That was so much fun. We have still tried it even if we had the key. ;)

It was a very nice geocaching and now I only need to find 69 more for my cache 1000. :)

Slamming and geocaching in Vienna

Yeah, it was time for another slam swapper meeting. This year it was in Vienna. :) It was my 5th time that I was flying somewhere. The last time was 2008 and also to Vienna. I was happy that it wasn't a long flight.

We stayed those days at my pal Christina and her boyfriend Christian. :) Thank you again, that we were able to stay at your place.

On our first day (Thu) we explored the city with geocaching. We didn't want to see the normal places as we've seen those in 2008 already. So we made two multis. One was in the multi that started close to the Stephansdom. It showed us some cosy backyards. We were surprise where it brought us. And on our little tour we also met some nice geocachers from Poland. :)
You've got mail
Hehe, and as I'm a penpaller I had to do the "You've got mail" cache. ;) Here you can see what it was:

In the afternoon we made a multi in the park of Schönbrunn. Last time in Vienna we only saw the castle and with the multi we explored the park a bit more and it was very nice. :)

On Friday we met the girls from the slamming world. It was so nice to see them again and we were walking around in the city and trying to explore the town with shopping for crafting things. ;)

On Saturday we started the day with a geocaching event. There were some geocachers from Norway who wanted to meet some people from Vienna or other travellers. It was nice to meet geocachers from Vienna and other countries. Sadly it rained all of the time. :( After the meeting we were driving to the central cemetary of Vienna. There we met the slam girls again. As it was still raining, we were mostly spending the day inside of a restaurant and at a café. Of course we were slamming. ;) And in the evening we visited a very nice restaurant on one of the close little mountains. I was surprised to see histamine free wine on their card (sadly they were too expensive :( ).

And our last day we spent with Christina and Christian. They drove with us to Slovakia and Hungary as we wanted to get the souvenirs for that countries. :) In Slovakia we were still able to buy some sweets. :) And in Hungary we visited a lost place, the border between Slovakia and Hungary. That was a scary place. And we looked for another cache in Hungary which hadn't a container. :( I've never found a cache with only a logbook, so I was very surprised. On our way back to the airport we visited some ancient roman places which was very interesting and we made a break in a typical "Heurigen". :)

It was a really lovely little holiday. But it felt like we didn't have enough time for everything.

Vacation in the Netherlands

After the Castlefest we spent some more vacation days in the Netherlands. We got a really good camping site which was very clean (Camping op hoop van Zegen). And we were lucky to have some very friendly neighbors on the camping site. :)
Our days we mostly spent at the beach in Noordwijk aan Zee or we were bicycling around Noordwijk. We were driving through some dunes, we were at the Oosterduinse Meer and we visited the cities Noordwijkerhout and Voorhout. It is very easy to go bicycling in that region, esp. if you are coming from a part of Germany, where there are some little mountains. And as we haven't used the bike for many years, it was way to start with it again.
Of course we explored the cities with geocaching. :) Here in Hameln it is much harder to explore the nature around with a bike, if you haven't driven a bike for some years.
Here you can see some pics of it:

Castlefest 2014

A few months ago a new penpal of me, told me, that there is a folk/medieval festival in the Netherlands which is worth to visit. Normally we wanted to make our holiday in the Harz this year, but we changed our plans then. We wanted to go to this festival. :) And it was lovely. Okay, it is much bigger than the Festival Mediaval, but it also had other things to offer. We got know some more new bands like Cesair, Trolska Polska or Amma. And we've seen old bands like Faun, Omnia and Corvus Corax. And of course we saw bands, which we knew before, but never seen before like Folk Noir, Asynje or Zirp. :) I was happy that we had three day tickets as the row in front of the ticket sale was veeeery long (esp. on Sunday). First we thought that the festival was very expensive in comparison to the Festival Mediaval. The food was very expensive (the cheapest was 3 € for a sweet pancake), but you got water for free and of course the tickets were cheaper. So maybe we paid the same as for the other festival. ;)
We had so much luck with the weather on all three days. Hehe, first we expected to go more to a medieval festival, but we looked nearly normal in our medieval clothes. The costumes were very interesting. It was like a go and see. ;)
I also liked to see all those different stalls. You could buy everything for Larp, medieval and wow, so many boards games (sadly those were in Dutch or English). But for our hobbies there was much to find. It was good that we didn't have so much money with us. ;) We only bought some fudge, CDs and a medieval belt for Fynn.

Result of these two festivals we've visited: Our son likes the Castlefest, my husband likes the Festival Mediaval and I'm not sure, I like both a lot. :)
